Renter’s Insurance
One of the requirements of your new lease is that you must maintain at least $100,000 of personal liability insurance and $15,000 in personal property insurance. The most common way to do this is with a renter’s insurance policy. Rentleaf Properties disclaims any and all responsibility for damages to your personal property arising from fires and/or other events. Simply put, our insurance policies do not cover your belongings. However, a renter’s insurance policy will include liability and personal property coverage to protect you and your belongings.
Renter’s Insurance is generally not expensive. If you need guidance in finding a renter’s insurance policy, start by talking to your car insurance company. Many times insurance companies will bundle policies and provide discounts.
Insurance Policy Requirements
All adult residents living in the unit must be named on the policy.
You must name the landlord as “additional interest” on this policy.
This means the insurance company would notify the landlord in the event of a lapse or cancellation. “Additional interest” and “Interested Party” are the only acceptable designations. The additional interest should read as follows:
Rentleaf Properties of Georgia, LLC
312 Crosstown Dr, Box 230
Peachtree City, GA 30269
Provide a copy of the declarations page of your policy meeting the requirements listed above prior to moving in (or renewing your lease).
The policy must stay in effect (or, “in force”) for as long as you reside in our home.
What if I don’t carry Renter’s Insurance?
Read your lease agreement carefully, this is an important component of your lease. Failure to acquire and keep the required coverage in force will be considered a breach of the lease agreement and is subject to any and all of the same remedies detailed in the lease agreement, including eviction.
Does Rentleaf get paid or receive kickbacks for Renter’s Insurance policies?
Nope. Not a cent. We don’t sell policies. We simply require that our quality tenants have quality coverage. In fact, we encourage you to talk to your own insurance agent about a Renter’s Insurance policy completely separate from Rentleaf and Apartments.com to find the best match for you.
